From the Dean

Welcome. I invite you to read the articles that follow which highlight the achievements of our faculty and students. I have been very impressed with these accomplishments since arriving as the new Dean on June 1, 2018.  I should note that, prior to becoming the Dean of the Harrison College of Business and Computing, I served as the Associate Dean for Research, Graduate Studies and Administration in the Business College of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Also, I am a native of the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas with a Ph.D. degree in economics from Iowa State University and have held professional appointments at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the University of New Mexico, and the University of Texas Pan American where I was the department chair of economics and finance for close to 19 years.

I would be remiss if I did not highlight that, as the new Dean of our College, I have relied heavily on the expertise of our faculty and staff to carry on with my new role.  I would like to particularly thank Dr. Judy Wiles for serving as a mentor in this process.  Finally, I want you to know that we value your input on how we can better our delivery of instruction, research and service to our students, alumni and the general community. So, please, reach out to us and help us with our mission of providing business studies today that will support tomorrow’s business successes.
